Why can't my athlete wear street shoes to practice?
Avoiding skin disease is of utmost importance to our club. Our street shoes go everywhere our wrestling shoes do not, such as the restroom. We don't want to track that onto the mats where athletes participate.
How are athletes paired up for practice?
We will partner athletes up based on size, age and gender as best we can. We would love to have dedicate girls and boys sessions! However, this depends on the number of male and female participants that come out to wrestle. The girl's side of wrestling is growing rapidly and we would like to grow along with it. If you know any girls that are interested in wrestling, we'd love to have them join us!
Are there separate sessions for girls?
At present, we are including both boys and girls in the Youth Wrestling sessions. We would absolutely love to run sessions exclusively for the girls, and will do so with enough interest. We plan on running a boys and girls session for the Competition Wrestling club in March, and if we have enough youth girls interested, we will add two girls-only youth sessions. Why the change in name?
Our goal as a coaching staff is to work with athletes to learn life long skills that will allow them to be successful in and out of the wrestling room. We want our athletes to defy expectations, circumstances, and goals. Defiant Wrestling better defines our vision, and we want you all to be a part of that.
